Dancing in the Rainbow

A commissioned 3-piece set of jewelry, with lots of colors, lots of bling!

The finger ring

If this looks lots of fun to wear, it was even more fun to make!

The chainmaille portion is a fancy European 4 in 1, kind of a morphed Chrysanthemum.  Easy enough.

But the base took me a while....  a long while.  Many experiments, lots of testing; I finally settled on the technique I learned from Eni Oken's Ornate Ring, which I modified to make a separate ring base/shank like so....

which can then be used with many other ring applications.  Pretty snazzy, wouldn't you say?!

And here are the earrings with clip-on ear wire findings...

A colorful version of my chainmaille genie bottle line, a very embellished chainmaille Whirlybird.

And finally, the necklace!

* note *
I wanted to take more photos for the necklace but my camera has finally decided to quit.  Not blaming it; it's given me almost 10 years of fun and good time; not many electronic gizmos out there these days can last 10 months with non-stop performance.  Thank you, my little red Exilim!  I will miss you...

So, I'm now shopping for a new camera.  Suggestions/recommendations welcome!  When I'm back behind my new camera, I'll get more pix for this fancy, blingy necklace, provided its owner Eunice will loan this back to me for more photos:-)

Moorish Rose Chainmaille Handflower

I've always wanted to make a handflower, or slave bracelet, but never had the chance, until now!

This is a small patch of Moorish Rose, 7 units of Mobius, with a mix of colorful glass farfalle beads in the center of each.

This is a similar technique as my Moorish Rose Cuff but with farfalle beads.  Btw, I think it's possible to use wire techniques with either farfalle beads or any 2-hole beads to inset the beads without beading wire.  But that's a different story for another day:-)  Now back to the handflower.

Does this picture look like a little bunny?  LOL!  I thought so.  But here it clearly shows how flexible this handflower is.  It has long loops in Spiral 4 in 1 that can fit on just about any finger.  The long bracelet section has lots of Mobius units to fit up to 8 inches, like so ....

I'm quite pleased at how this handflower turned out.  A marriage of ancient romanticism and futuristic modernism.

This Moorish Rose handflower is available for purchase in my ArtFire shop.

Chainmaille Button

And you may be asking, "Why?"
Well, why not?   :-)

I don't remember since when, but I've been somewhat obsessed with mailled daily objects.
Call it "objet d'art" if I may:-)

Can be sewed on as any regular shank button.

May also be turned into a cocktail ring:-)

Perfect on a dark winter coat!

Or a warm fluffy sweater/cardigan.

Complete views available on my Picasa Web Album.

Pink Genie Bottle Pendant/Necklace

A more-pink-than-pink genie bottle, more pink than Kaylee's wedding cake dress:-) Right, for all you Firefly fans out there, you know the dress:-)

My Kaylee's Pink Genie Bottle is built with big bold crystals in a streamlined shape. It features a brilliant Swarovski Artemis bead as the bottle top, with a large vintage Swarovski Margarita crystal, a rare find these days!

I then wove the chamber portion of the genie bottle in a delicate chainmaille Whirlybird to give the pendant a substantial presence when held in your hand.

At last, but not least, the long, slander tassel is decorated with trailing crystals at the very end, kicking up yet another level of sparkles and pizzazz!

My Keylee's Pink Genie Bottle is 2 1/4 inches long, over 1 inch wide, plus a near 3-inch swaying tassel, hangs on a 32-inch, 2.9 mm, machine-made stainless steel curb chain with a mischievous tilt!

To custom order this pink beauty, please drop me note at Contact Me in my online studio DaisyKreates.com.

Blue Daisies Earrings with Color Coordinated Niobium Ear Wires

These blue daisies are not only bright and cheery, they are on a pair of handcrafted niobium ear wires of matching colors!

I made the pair of ear wires out of natural niobium wire, with added scrolls at front for some extra flair, shortened tail ends at the back for comfort wear, and then anodized the pair in two of the high voltage colors in the reflective spectrum: hot pink and teal blue, making them perfect for the big purple rings and the teal blue daisy beads.

These earrings are light weight, great for everyday wear; thanks to the niobium ear wires, they are hypoallergenic and will not irritate even the most sensitive ear lopes:-)

The Blue Daisies earrings measure at 2 1/2 inches long, 1/2 inch wide, weighs at a mere 0.1 oz.

Haven't tried niobium yet?  Wondering what it is?  Here's a little intro to this semi-precious metal.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ About Niobium ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Niobium is a natural material, element number 41 on the periodic table. The color of unanodized niobium is a warm, dark gray. When anodized, a layer of skin forms on the metal surface and reflects colors of the spectrum depending on the thickness of the layer.
Natural niobium requires no maintenance, will not change state or tarnish in our natural environment, hypoallergenic even for those with most skin sensitivity. It has been my favorite metal to use in handmade jewelry.
This item is available for custom order in my ArtFire studio.  Customizations welcome.
Hishigata (Japanese Diamond) Key Fob
Hishigata (means diamond in Japanese) is a colorful key fob, made in the Japanese chainmaille weave on the loose end of AR, resulting in a fun diamond pattern that is not only pleasing to the eye, also flexible in form to fit comfortably in your palm.
The jingly bells help you find it just in case it fell off toward the bottom of your purse, back pack, shopping bag, and what not:-)
The key fob is made with anodized aluminum jump rings which are light weight, and in brightly jewel tones.  I triple-stacked the horizontal rings to give the diamond shape more substance and better secured to take on the pulls-and-tugs.
I paired the diamond shape with a crescent shape split ring to hold all your key-holding needs:-)  The juxtaposition of sharp corners of a diamond and the soft curve of the new moon!  Unexpectingly complementary!
The key fob measures about 5 inches long, 2 inches wide, 3/8 inch thick.  All color rings are anodized aluminum, with the split/key ring in plated base metal.
For more views of the key fob, please visit my Picasa web album.
